Yes, currently the 10.5 SDK is required. Xcode seems to select whatever SDK even if one was specified in target settings.

Thanks! Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the bug. It looks like libssl isn't being linked to the framework, even though it is according to the commands. I changed some library paths to use the current SDK as a base path; I don't think it makes any difference but we'll see.
